How they launched

Commission math used to be a spreadsheet our customers emailed us. Now it's a line on the stub.

Shearline handles bookings, services and checkout for salons and barbershops. Before payroll, owners exported the week’s bookings, worked out each stylist’s commission in a spreadsheet and emailed it to Shearline support whenever the numbers didn’t match the paycheck.

Now the bookings are the timesheet. Services flow into the weekly run, commission and tips land on the stub with the rate next to them, and every screen keeps Shearline’s raspberry and its rounded 18px corners. A stylist in Atlanta sees $1,960.00 of services, $604.20 of commission, her dental and HSA lines, then her net.

Since August 2024, 534 of Shearline’s 2,912 salons have moved payroll into the app, 18.3%, paying 5,118 stylists, barbers and assistants every Friday.
