How they launched

Prevailing wage is why we said no to payroll for four years.

Fieldcrew schedules jobs, crews and estimates for electrical, plumbing and HVAC contractors. Many of them bid public work, where hours on a project are paid at the prevailing rate for each classification. For four years, that rule was the reason payroll stayed off Fieldcrew’s roadmap.

Crew time logged against a job now feeds the biweekly run. When a job is marked as public work, Payrun pays the prevailing rate on those hours and shows the difference as its own line. An electrician in Phoenix sees his earnings, $412.80 of prevailing wage and his 401(k) at 5% on one stub.

Since January 2025, 296 of Fieldcrew’s 1,174 contractors have switched payroll on, 25.2%, for 7,240 field and office employees. Setup takes a little longer than on other partners, 11 business days, because each contractor’s job classifications are checked before the first run.
