How they launched

We shipped payroll as a tab, not a partnership page. 812 restaurants switched it on without a sales call.

Basil POS runs orders, menus and the end-of-night close for independent restaurants in Texas and beyond. Payroll came up in every churn interview, usually in the same sentence as tips: card tips reported by the POS, overtime after 40 hours, and a line cook who works a double on Saturday.

Basil shipped payroll as a third tab next to Orders and Menu. Hours come straight from the Basil timeclock, card tips flow from the close into the weekly run, and the paystub carries Basil’s green and its name. A line cook in Austin sees regular hours, overtime at 1.5× and $324.11 of tips on one stub, then a deposit on Friday morning.

Since March 2024, 812 of Basil’s 6,340 restaurants have switched payroll on, 12.8%, for 13,906 employees. Most of them did it from the tab itself, without talking to anyone at Basil.
