Bank returns in the sandbox
Test accounts that fail on purpose, with real return codes, so your app handles an R01 or an R03 before production does.
The sandbox used to accept every deposit. It now includes test bank accounts that fail the way real ones do: R01 for insufficient funds on the employer’s debit, R02 for a closed account and R03 for an account that cannot be found.
Each failure sends the same deposit.returned webhook as production, two business days after the pay date in sandbox time. Move the sandbox clock forward and check that your app asks the employee to update their account and tells the employer that a payment came back.
